At the top the trail breaks out of the trees into a grassy clearing with another shelter and picnic site. The trail is often muddy.
Directions: On Hana Highway (360) drive 3.5 miles past Kailua Village going toward Keanae. At this point, there is a parking area with picnic shelters above the road.
